An important note on wet & raw dog foods
I’m a huge advocate for raw dog food, especially those made from human grade meats like this one, but there’s one issue you must consider:
Soft foods do not help your dog maintain a clean set of tartar free teeth.
This is a problem with wet foods in general, so don’t let it put you off We Feed Raw. It’s actually a much bigger problem with cheap poorly-formulated wet dog foods, .
The problem with bad teeth is it can lead to poor overall health, so you’ll want to address that in the following ways:
- Give your dog a raw meaty bone to chew on. This is an excellent way for them to naturally maintain healthy teeth regardless of what you feed them.
- High quality chews (such as dried deer tendons, antlers etc).
- Brush their teeth regularly! (If you dare)
- Be wary of dental treats – read the ingredients and you’ll see what I mean.
REVIEW: We Feed Raw Dog Food
Depending on your dog and your preference, We Feed Raw offer a range of varieties (or “meal plans”) tailored specially for your dog.
You’ll need to fill in a short questionnaire when you sign up, but the benefit of this is they’ll tell you what will work best nutritionally for your dog and how much to feed. Don’t worry, it’s simple and only takes a few minutes.

Right, let’s take a look at what We Feed Raw dog food is made from – in the “Ingredients” section below I’ve included an example “meal plan” based on lamb and beef.
I want you to keep in mind your average kibble is often over 50% carbohydrates from stuff like grains or starches which aren’t ideal for your dog or his digestive system. Carbohydrates can turn to sugars if your dog doesn’t burn them off, and you know the issues with that.
We Feed Raw on the other hand, has these main ingredients:
Lamb, beef heart, beef liver, beef kidney, beef necks (with bone)
If that doesn’t sound perfect for a dog, note these are high-quality human grade meats. No risk of dodgy pet grade meats pumped full of preservatives.
In fact, with 90% muscle & organ meat and 10% ground bone it’s basically whole-prey with a few other nutrients added for good measure.
Believe it or not, these main ingredients offer your dog all the nutrition they need alongside the added vitamins and minerals which make the food AAFCO compliant.
To offer a comparison, the main ingredients in kibble are often unnecessary, even harmful, for your dog, and the nutrition part comes from the rest of the ingredients (some meat, some fat, and a vitamin/mineral premix).
Feeding We Feed Raw to your dog is a much better, much more natural option.
I can nit pick a little and say the minerals could be chelated – chelated minerals are a little more costly for the pet food company, but easier for your dog to absorb. It’s a small point though, almost moot, especially when you consider the nutrients your dog will get from the meats, organs, and bones (beef necks).
