About the Pet Food Ratings Project

20 years ago my cat was diagnosed with renal failure.

Like many pets across the world, he was fed a kibble I ignorantly believed to be appropriate.

Once diagnosed, he was prescribed a scientific prescription kibble, and although living several more years, he lived as a much more frail version of himself.

Yes, you may expect his frailty to be a consequence of his condition, but ask yourself this:

In human medical science we know how vital moisture is in our diets, excessively so with renal disease. Yet veterinarians will prescribe dry moisture-less kibble for sick pet carnivores.
That scientific prescription kibble, for a sick obligate carnivore cat, was largely made of grains. Imagine feeding a sick lion nuggets of wheat and corn – it just doesn’t happen.

When it comes to pet food, simple common sense can offer us so many answers most pet owners of the world fail to consider.

The reason?

The marketing (and science) which comes from the pet food industry is powerful, and who are we to doubt it?
