I hadn’t heard of Artemis until I stumbled across them on the internet. I don’t think their food is readily available, but you can buy it online if you search around.
I’ve decided to review the rather unique Bison & Garbanzo variety. If you don’t know what garbanzo beans are then I’ll forgive you, they’re chickpeas – an excellent ingredient and great source of fibre, lecithin, potassium, and vitamins A, B, and C. With quality ingredients like that it sticks out from the crowd, and I’m excited about this food. It’s also one of the few grain free dog foods available in Australia, which is great for dogs that suffer allergies.
Bison is a quality ingredient, found in a few decent pet food brands including Canidae. We need to be mindful of the fact it’s weighed before cooking and mostly water, but that’s okay as it’s backed up by salmon meal, another quality meat product packed with protein and nutrients. Garbanzo is very unique in a pet food, but it’s great for dogs as previously mentioned.
Next comes sweet potato and potato, arguably the best carbohydrate source in pet food. Peas are a great source of fibre too. Canola oil is a good choice of oil, and this is supported with salmon meal and ocean fish meal. Flax seed is good for a healthy, shiny coat, as well as being a source of omega fatty acids. We also have a range of fruits and veggies including chicory root, blueberries, and raspberries.
I see this food as on par with other quality foods such as Orijen and Taste of the Wild. This is a company that cares about their food.
