Pure Vita (Chicken & Brown Rice)
Rating: | Price: $$$ | Website
First off, chicken and chicken meal up the top two ingredients. Chicken is a quality item but contains a lot of water which reduces the meat content when cooked. Chicken meal is meat concentrate so will contain a lot more protein than the chicken. Brown rice is an excellent grain. Oatmeal is naturally rich in vitamin B and dietary fiber, and Barley contains healthy nutrients and supports healthy blood sugar levels.
Further down the ingredient list is tomato pomace which is a by-product from producing tomato juice, sauce, and soup. Some claim tomato pomace is a cheap food filler, although it is high in fiber and nutrients so can’t be that bad. The food is slightly below average in fat but higher in carbs.
All in all this is a pretty good dog food.
